[#50] Here’s to 80s music, the elixir of life!

I can’t believe it’s been twenty-four hours. It doesn’t seem like it’s been over ten. Is it bad that I can’t even recall what I wrote about? Whatever. I frankly don’t give a damn at the moment.

Ha! Am listening to 89X and Cristina apparently participated in Blogathon as well. Don’t know how she’s on the radio after writing all night. Wait, wait..I just found her blog; here.

Tra-la! Am going out listening to Just Like Honey, which is totally fitting. Love you Cristina. Actually, love everybody right now, especially everyone who sponsored me or commented.

Let it be known that this is not the end! Sometime in the next couple days I will post the last final mix tape and maybe an overview. But for now, goodbloodynight.

ETA: And she totally played the Sugarcubes and New Order right afterwards. Hardcore.

[#49] Paranoid Android

Am having a hilarious time trying not to swagger as I walk. The Father’s like, “You do still remember your name, don’t you?” Thanks Father, for the vote of confidence. I can’t help but feel like a drug addict, however. I keep on seeing things out of the corner of my eye and think they’re people. Paranoia! Oh my Davey I want sleep.

Time Warp is the only thing that is keeping me sane. That and the fact that in just twenty more minutes I can go to sleeeeeeeeeep.

[#48] tough men don’t use the word “funky”

<lj-embed id="12" />

I really felt like bollocks the past half hour. I got up to use the loo and almost threw up everywhere. And then I got all jittery. Now I’m sitting again, chugging vast amounts of water, eating saltines and watching New Kids on the Block videos on youtube. I feel better already. (How can one not feel better when listening to New Kids?)

I’ve come to the conclusion that Hangin' Tough is the most contradictory song in the world. How can you possibly be tough while dancing in a boyband and singing lyrics like “We're gonna put you in a trance with a funky song.” Ha! I wonder if the guys are embarresed of their past.

[#47] must...go...on

Ugh. The Muzzer and I are having a small craft show today in our backyard. Luckily it’s in the afternoon and I can get a nap in. Actually, you know, that’s only about six hours of sleep. I am going to be overtly pissy and too tired to be of much help. I hope she realizes that.

I am getting sloppy in my writing. I swear every other word I write is spelt wrong. I’m talking to Barb again and I keep on mistaking words for other words, like anything for anyone. I don’t even know what the hell I’m saying. Words have become foreign to me. Do you realize just how odd the word instincts is? Instincts. Oh, Davey, I’m really bloody tired now. I can't even hold my head up.

Where the hell is Cliff Richards when you need him?

[#46] the horses of Heaven Can Wait Equine Rescue

Esmeralda, the beloved donkey and mascot of HCW

It’s become perfectly clear to me that if I don’t post this now, I won’t be able to bring myself to do so in the future. As it is, this is far from what I had in mind when I first signed up for Blogathon. I had originally wanted to write about each horse individually, but somehow time got away with me. Instead, I’ve accumulated a couple photographs of horses I’ve encountered over the years at Heaven Can Wait.

But first a reminder that it’s not too late to sponsor me. Donations are accepted until the thirty-first, so please, contribute something; it doesn’t even have to be more than $5.00. So far I've raised a little over $100. In reality, $100 wouldn't even cover the vet bill for one horse. So please, sponsor me!

Minnie, a mare well over twenty-five, was rescued from going to meat.

Slightly is a retired race horse and broodmare with arthritis in her knees and ankles.

Daisy is a loveable paint draft, recently started under saddle.

Dusty is fat, lazy and the nicest horse you'll ever meet.
[#45] Everyone’s gone to bed. Sleep? No way in hell.

Matt Mays is perfect late night/early morning music. It’s quiet without putting me to sleep, and a large number of the songs are about night time and the morning sun. Speaking of, I can’t believe how bright it is out. I haven’t been up this early in a long while. It’s refreshing. I love watching the sky as it lightens ever so slowly.

It’s also slightly annoying to be up at this time because I find myself starving. It’s one of the reasons I hate waking up early; I’m always painfully hungry before nine in the morning. If I sleep past nine, my stomach doesn’t even grumble. I guess I’m off to find something to eat.

[#44] I want to glomp Jarvis Cocker

<lj-embed id="11" />

Jarvis Cocker has never failed to put me into a good mood. There's something about him that always makes me giggle and fawn over him. The Don't Let Him Waste Your Time video is no different. It's absolutely hilarious. All cabbies should be like Jarvis (although maybe they could do without the running everything and everyone over).

[#43] awake and bitchy

You know, besides from being a bit sluggish and slow to think of words, I’m not at all tired. I got past the exhaustion phase at about one, although I was feeling a bit nauseous at four in the morning. Now I’m just going through heat flashes. And taking frequent trips to the loo. I think it’s about time I finally pulled out the hardcore 80s music, however. I need something to keep me awake.

Oi! I have to bitch for a moment, because I am utterly frustrated. I started to download another copy of Marie Antoinette and it was going spectacularly fast until it stopped on 90%. Again. Does no one have the entire video? Bah! Apparently I am destined not to watch Marie Antoinette during Blogathon. I suppose that's alright for you. All the entries I'd write while watching it would be squees about how gorgeous the film is and how brilliant the soundtrack is. And that would be frightfully boring for two hours straight.

[#42] the things you learn on wikipedia

The genre shoegazer was coined so because the musicians in these bands maintained a motionless performing style—standing on stage and staring at the floor while playing their instruments, hence the idea that they were gazing at their shoes.

It’s completely and utterly true, just watch any video from a shoegaze band. It’s most amusing.

I also find it amusing that my Aunt Barb is the only person awake with me. I thank Davey that she works nights or else I would be terribly alone. Even my monitor seems to have disappeared. I envy all the people sleeping in their beds at this moment.

It’s 2:30 in the morning. I’ve dragged all my bedding upstairs and have made myself a nest on the computer chair. I’m sitting high up upon a stack of pillows and my comforter. I fear if I move I will topple off and spill my scalding hot tea everywhere.

Am rather annoyed with the Marie Antoinette download. It started downloading extremely quickly and then abruptly stopped after an hour at 89.8%. I really don’t get how that’s possible. How can five hundred seeds disappear all at once?

In the meantime I am amusing myself with Potter Puppet Pals.

<lj-embed id="9" />

[#36] well it's a safety dance!

It's times like these that I wish I had a laptop. You have no idea how unsettling it feels to be stationary for twenty-four hours. My bottom feels like it has detached from my body and I have stabbing pain through my back, which I swear is a sign of rebelliousness from my body. I’m going to go take a large amount of painkillers now, and make some tea. I think I’ll do some yoga while I wait for my tea to boil. I hope I don't fall asleep while doing so. The kitchen floor is ever so comfy...

[#35] Impulsive late night buys.

For the past month I've been searching for a song I’ve been listening to on 89X for the past ten years, but have only recently taken any notice to. I searched for the lyrics I could remember, I tried searching the 89X Time Warp archives for a song title that sounded vaguely right. I even tried listening to last.fm bands that started with the number “24” in hopes I could find the band. All my searching was in vain, of course, because the band was an obscure 90s shoegaze/dream pop band from Canada that only released one record and that no one besides a few thousand people in Canada has ever heard of.* On Thursday I finally learnt the band name – 24 Gone – and the song title - Girl Of Colours.

That information didn’t get me far, however, and I soon discovered that apart from two live videos of them on youtube, 24 Gone wasn’t anywhere to be found on the internet. Despite that, I quickly became enthralled with the two lone songs I had actually found and went on a search for their album. The only place I could find the Spin was on ebay, on which I just bought it for a total of $11.00. What can I say? Ebay and late night blogging doesn’t mix too well with me. I am far too impulsive.

*They have a total of 1,560 plays scrobbled on last.fm. That’s just pathetic.

[#34] a reprise

Ah! Spent so much time chatting with Aunt Barb and trying to put my mix tape up for download that I haven’t had much time to write an entry. I’m not entirely sure what I was on, deciding to make a melodic mix. I’m ruddy falling asleep listening to it. I think I’ll take comava’s suggestion and make an On The Road mix next. That’ll surely wake me up.

Only eight more hours to go…or is it nine? I can't even think straight anymore. I think I'm going to listen to Barb and bust out the green tea soon.

[#31] cue the drinking songs

Princess Diaries 2? Your time would be much better spent adding this one to the list of French movies you like...

http://www.us.imdb.com/title/tt0082269/usercomments

Oh Davey. Email from Uncle Alan. Too tired to even defend crack film selections other than saying, “Mfmmt.” Will check out movie, however. Actually, think may have come across this movie before. Hmm...

Everything has started to become ridiculously hilarious to me. I think I should prepare you before I start getting slap happy for the scary 80s music that is to come, the Shoebox Project quotes and the rather Bridget Jones-esque speech.

[#30] Ack! Ack! Am falling behind!

I have come to the conclusion that I am very much like Elinor Dashwood from Sense and Sensibility. Heart is wrenching for Colonel Brandon in painful jerks. Want to knock some sense into Marianne. (Think heart ache may be only because am imagining rather scrumptious Alan Rickman portrayal of Colonel Brandon, not book Brandon. Although book Brandon is only supposed to be thirty, not pervy sixty year old, as Alan Rickman is, so might come to like book version as well.)
